SINGLE MOTHER

The non-governmental organizations (NGO) in the country should pay more attention to the living standard of single mothers by giving them vocational training to help increase their income and financial standing and also improve their children’s education standard. It is not an easy task for both husband and wife to raise children in a family, let alone a single mother. In this regard, NGOs could liaise with Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to get the resources and supports in running its training programmes which the Ministry has always been supportive of steps taken to improve the living standard of single mother. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Training programmes such as baking, cooking, sewing lessons etc will better equip the single mothers in earning their living.Irrespective of single mothers or women from poor family, it is important that their children have access to good education. Only by improving the education standard of the children their future lives and their family can be changed for the better.
