Auditor-General Report 2011

The recent Auditor-General Report 2011 although reported improvement in financial performance overall. However, various government departments and ministries must improve their financial management to avoid any unnecessary spending. The 2010 A-G report released on October 24 last year found that nine federal ministries and departments had exceeded their overall operational allocation by a total of RM3.73 billion.
They include the Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Home Ministry, Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Ministry, Public Service Department, Attorney-General’s Department, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Public Services Commission.
The report also stated that the overspending was unavoidable due to additional activities and unscheduled payments.
I think that, if Malaysia is to implement the civil servants misconduct lawbased on British Law, it can prevent misconduct, including misuse of public funds by civil servants. The civil servants can be brought before the court for misconduct. This will be a good prevention.
TheMACC also takes initiatives in carrying out investigation to fight corruption.
The public and tax payers are eager to know how is the public funds are being spent for national development in particular with the recent A-G Report announcement of the over spending of some infrastructure projects.
The moment the Prime Minister is committed to implement the National Transformation Program, he urged the needs for transformation of the good administration civil service with public accountability system in order to further develop the country to be one of the high income nation by 2020.
The people need a clean and transparent government to rule the country with good administration and orderly manner.
I urge the Prime minister to continue to pursue his vision and goals of the National Transformation Programs so that we can achieve the developed nation.
